I may have went to Playa del Carmen to get married, but I was able to sneak away to the island of Isla Mujeres for a day to explore. This small island community in Mexico is located in Gulf of Mexico, and measures approximately 4.3 miles long and 2,130 feet wide.
A 2010 census indicated that just over 12,000 people live on Isla Mujeres, but the island has thousands of visitors each day.
We took a catamaran trip from Cancun out to Isla Mujeres for the day. The seas were a bit choppy and anyone with a hint of motion sickness in their past was trying their best to get through the 30 minute boat ride.
Once we arrived we rented golf carts and set off to explore the island (and to find a much needed cocktail for Dylan who was unfortunately one of those people that had sea sickness on the boat).
We only had approximately 3 hours on the island, however there is so much to explore. The island is worth the day trip, and below are a few snaps from my adventure that day.
