For 11 years I lived in a home from 1940 that was a grand total of 923 square feet. The main living level was roughly 600-some, and that encompassed the living room, kitchen, office, bathroom and spare bedroom. And though I loved my home and had made some major improvements, I never really had the opportunity to make it mine. It was my first home – one that I lived in much longer than I had anticipated – but one I knew wasn’t my ‘forever’ home, so I never put the money into it to truly reflect my style. I also was only 24 when I bought that home, so I didn’t have a ton of money either.
Fast forward to today and I live in a brand new, 1,200 square foot apartment in a new city. And though living in an apartment doesn’t give me the opportunity to fundamentally change the apartment, it’s a bit more modern and I’ve completely started over with decorating and styling the place to reflect my style in my 30s.
Here I’ll be sharing the rooms, pieces and inspiration for my style. I think of it as sort of a modern-tradiational-french style, which let’s be honest, is probably not a real thing, but it’s what I’m striving for.
I’ll be sharing lots of ways you can organize and maximize your space – something I became quite proficient at in that 923 square foot house, as well as the styles that inspire me.
After all, style doesn’t just mean clothes, but it’s also reflected in your home, and I’m excited to share my home style journey in my 30s!
