Shopping for men can be tough. Take my Dad, for example. A man of simple tastes who tells me he wants “a million dollars” every time I ask him what he wants for his birthday or Christmas. His hobbies are cooking, farming, and traveling with my Mom. Hobbies that make it difficult to shop for him (trust me, after 35 years it’s TOUGH to find him kitchen/cooking related gifts he doesn’t already have).
On the other hand I have my husband, Dylan, who is so easy to shop for. From craft beer to traveling, from fitness to sports, and food to clothes, I have a list a mile long of things I want to buy for him.
Like my Gift Guide for Her, I wanted to keep this guide for him classic. Gifts that don’t go out of style.

- Hershel Men’s Wallet
For the man who likes simple and easy-to-carry, the Hersehel men’s wallets are perfect. Dylan uses this wallet and loves it. It fits cleanly into his pocket, lays flat, and the best part is that it’s under $20.
- Temperature Controlled Ceramic Mug
Slow coffee or tea drinker? No problem! This ceramic mug will keep his liquids nice and warm, at his perfect temp, so he can slowly sip and never have his liquids get cold. How does it stay at the perfect temp? Just download the app on your phone (iPhone or Android) and control your mug!
We’re partial to Fitbit in our house; I’ve been wearing their fitness trackers since near the beginning and can personally attest to their stellar customer service. So when Dylan and I started dating years ago I got him hooked, and we’ve never looked back. Their Fitbit Versa is my personal favorite – a smart watch that doesn’t just track your steps/calories/stairs/heart rate, but you can texts, check the weather, connect Pandora, track all your workouts, and much more!
- Craft Beer Quick Chiller
Though this likely works on your regular domestic beer bottles, I immediately thought of all the craft beer lovers in my life who have to buy many of their beers off the shelf and if appropriate, chill them. Now, instead of waiting, they can throw this chilled corkcicle into any beer to immediately get it cold and enjoy.
- Classic Loafers
Every man needs staple pieces in their wardrobe, and these classic loafers from Rockport fit the bill of being affordable, classic, can be dressed up or down, and are comfortable (I can attest to this; Rockport is the brand of shoe the men are wearing in my wedding!)
- Buffalo Check Plaid Shirt
A plaid shirt is a classic piece, and this one? Well it’s fleece lined! Warmth and style, and it only costs between $20-$25 (depending on size). It’s a classic piece that will keep him warm and can complimented with so many other things to create different looks.
Vinyl is timeless. End of story. And now he can slowly start his collection with this sleek, and highly praised Crosley turntable.
- North Face Laptop Backpack
This laptop backpack is sleek enough it can be used when dressed up, laid back enough that you can wear it dressed down, and carried as a briefcase if you want to forgo the backpack straps. And it has so many compartments, as well as room for a 15″ laptop.
- Harry’s Holiday Shave Gift Set
Harry’s has gained lots of traction in 2018 due to a vigorous marketing campaign in both popular podcasts and in-store at Target (I’m sure they market other places, those are just the two areas I’ve seen them – repeatedly). Their gift set is the perfectly priced starter kit, and for us it’s just a matter of if Dylan buys it for himself before I can get it in his stocking.
Someone recently asked Dylan what his favorite thing was that I’ve ever bought him and he replied, without missing a beat, “slippers”. At first he told me he didn’t want slippers, but after watching me wear mine and commenting how comfortable they were he gave in. And I bought him this exact pair, and now he’s hooked, and I’m convinced that everyone needs a good, comfortable pair of slippers in their life.
Tell me, what is your list for the man in your life? Did I miss something obvious or do you have any other great ideas; I’d love to hear!
